About Center for Communication Care, LLC

Directors, Owners and Speech-Language Pathologists Donna M. Pomilla and Dorene Riggio-Tonn, have been passionately serving the local community for 25 years. In 1996 we opened the doors of Center for Communication Care, LLC in the quaint town of Babylon Village, New York located on the South Shore of Suffolk County Long Island.

Both Donna and Dorene hold degrees in Teacher of Speech & Hearing Handicapped and Psychology of the Exceptional Child. Donna received her Master of Arts Degree from Hofstra University in Speech Pathology. Dorene received her Master of Science Degree from Adelphi University in Communicative Disorders. Both are credentialed and hold Certification of Clinical Competence (C.C.C.) and New York State Licenses in Speech Pathology. They are members of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), American Academy of Private Practice in Speech Pathology & Audiology(AAPPSPA), New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA) and Long Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association (LISHA).

Donna enjoys sharing her expertise by supervising undergraduate & graduate student teacher Speech Pathology Interns. In addition she has been employed for nearly 30 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a local Public School. Due to Donna's extensive experience she is able to create a supportive atmosphere for you and your child.
Dorene provides supervision to newly graduated master level clinicians during their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). Dorene is an On Going Service Coordinator (OSC) through the Suffolk County Department of Health (SCDOH) approved for children ages birth to 36 months. In addition she is involved in evaluations for EI (early intervention) as well as in the transition to related services for pre-school aged children.

Donna and Dorene are active PTA & SEPTA members. They both were born and raised locally and have had a lifelong commitment of volunteering and providing services to the local community.

Over the years we've been fortunate to work in various learning environments, we've seen what works and have brought our experience from each of those environments to Center for Communication Care, LLC. In addition to currently being entrenched in providing individual & group therapy at our Center, our experience as Speech-Language Pathologists extends to working in public/private schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers for traumatic brain injury (TBI), preschool special education programs, summer camp for children with special needs and providing ongoing service coordination for families with early intervention and preschool special education children.

All of our Service Providers (which include Speech-Language Pathologists, Special Education Teachers, ABA Instructors, General Education Teachers, Reading/Literacy Specialists, Fast ForWord Providers, Wilson Reading Instructors, PROMPT Therapists) are experienced and go through a rigorous screening process before joining our team. They are required to receive ongoing training and professional CEUs which keeps them up to date and on the cutting edge with the latest strategies, techniques and approaches.

Our Center is an original 1900's Babylon Village 2 story house converted into an office with 5 therapy rooms and a large waiting area. We offer a homey environment, making it comfortable and stress free for children to become easily acclimated in order to attend & engage in the learning process. Individualized attention ensures that your child remains engaged.

Center for Communication Care, LLC focuses not only on building communication and academic skills but on confidence, motivation, attending, problem solving skills and social skills too.
